The M72B1 is a Yugoslavian-manufactured variant of the Soviet RPK light machine gun. Designed in the 1970s, the M72B1 was developed by Zastava Arms in Yugoslavia as a licensed and modified version of the Soviet RPK as a replacement for the M53 (a local MG42 clone) for use in squad automatic weapon roles within the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA).

  • Key Differences from the Soviet RPK
    • Receiver: The M72B1 uses a thicker, milled or heavier stamped receiver.
    • Barrel: It features a heavier, non-removable barrel with cooling fins near the front, helping with sustained fire.
    • Bipod: Equipped with a folding bipod, similar to the RPK.
    • Caliber: Chambered in 7.62×39mm, compatible with standard AK magazines and drums.
  • With perfect rivetspin workfitand finish, our quality standard is very high.
  • This M72 will ship with the matching 30 round Yugo BHO magazine from the parts kit.
